Johnny Appleseed:
I wish to praise the wonderful exhibit on display at the Cleveland Canal Way Center. It's hard to
believe that that wonderful work was all done free-hand. I have noticed several names on different
vessels throughout the map. Out of curiosity, would you explain who they are? You have a great future
ahead of you if you continue to bring the Ohio's past to the present.
Hello Jeff,
I was in amazement just sitting in on your speech of the Ohio & Erie Canal. Where have you been all
of these years? All of my life, the canal has been my passion. Next to what I've seen, I've been asleep
compared to what I have heard from you. Wonderful job! Keep it up.
Hello Canalwayman:
I have emailed you to tell you that your fantastic. It must have been a great honor when the Canal
Commissioner at the Visitor Center in Cleveland paid you such a nice complement. You know, he's
right. Just to listen to you, it is apparent by the tone of your voice and you sincerity, you're a nice and
warm person and obviously an authority on the Ohio & Erie Canal. That was a great thing for him to
say and I agree with him.
Hello Canalwayman/Crocodile Dundee/Indiana Jones/Daniel Boone/Davy Crockett: Your are a man
of intrigue for sure. Since your beginnings, I am happy to say I have been a follower of your great work.
Aren't you afraid of going through those dark tunnels below Akron and Massillon? Just in case that
was up for debate, your pictures are the proof. How did you ever scale those dreadful waterfalls below
Akron. Email me, I must know.
Mr Maximovich,
You have a beautiful map on display. Not only does this great piece of work show Ohio's canal
system, you've added on three other states - Indiana, Pennsylvania and New York. This is clearly an
original. No one has ever done this before. I love the story of Kate, the pioneer woman who picked
300 bushels of squash in one day in the state of New York. She was definitely a determined one.
Being a woman, I would hope to have the same determination as her. Nice job.
Hello Johnny Apple Seed:
In this day and time with all of the turmoil throughout our land, it is so refreshing to read about your
adventures. For just a short time, your words about the canal that made this state so famous,
transported my mind back to its beginnings. It was so nice.
Johnny Apple Seed:
Hello. I have lived in Massillon all of my life, always interested in the history of the Ohio & Erie Canal.
Where did you come from? My wife and I love to hear you speak. Email me about Steamboat Annie
and Asha Cutler. Did Massillon have three locks? If so, please give me the locations. I love the story
about what's below Keller's Office Equipment that was featured in the Massillon Independent. I'll
certainly buy your book. My wife loves your ruggedness and good looks. I'm jealous. Just kidding.
Keep up the good work.
Johnny Apple Seed,
I have read your articles about the Black Hand Gorge. This put me into investigating the area. You
claimed to have had eerie experiences in the dark woods of the Black Hand Gorge. Well, you should
have! Not long ago, skeletons were uncovered in that area and sent to Ohio State University for
carbon dating. These were found along the towpath near old Nashport. Also, when the canal was
being dug in the 1820's, the state had no regard for an Indian burial ground which the diggers of the
Ohio & Erie Canal uncovered and also, many Indian tribes and the white man died fighting in those
deep, dark woods along the Licking River. It's been so long since anyone has been back in there, it's
possible when someone did come along, a spirit may have accompanied you.

Hello Jeff
Well we finally meet this summer on fourth st. in Massillon. First of all congratulations is in order,
your book is really good. The display you built to exhibit your work was extraordinary obviously you
put heart into your work. It must give you great satisfaction. The curator of events, told me that
you've passed out all 500 of those maps of the Ohio & Erie Canal system. My friend and I who are
both active members in canal research, know that without hesitation you are the new voice of the
Ohio & Erie Canal. We spent two days going over 200 sites listed on your great profile map-not
one was out of place! Also your GPS findings seem to be accurate. It was nice to see all the canal
locks from satellite, that was great work. Thank you for a breath of fresh air, hopefully with your
work and others also are involved the preservation of this great waterway it will be preserved or at
least whats left of it. I hope your work and your new book will spark enough interest in the canal,
people will stand behind funding future canal projects.
